Elimination of loads on piping, vibration isolation, noise reduction and protection of installation and equipment.

Residential, building services and HVAC applications are the natural domain of Dilatoflex® expansion joints. Excellent vibration isolation, significant noise reduction and a high degree of flexibility are the main advantages of Dilatoflex® and KLEDIL® expansion joints.

Rubber expansion joints: an ideal solution for building water networks

Temperature range particularly suited to HVAC applications

The internal structure of Dilatoflex® expansion joints with green/red marking is specifically designed for climate engineering, allowing operation up to 110°C under 10 bar or 90°C under 16 bar.

Simplified maintenance

KLEDIL® joints are widely appreciated for their design and threaded connections, offering simplified maintenance and minimal space requirements.

Reduction of water hammer effects

The frequent opening and closing of valves often creates pressure waves which impact the piping, generating vibrations and significant noise pollution. Dilatoflex® expansion joints effectively reduce these undesirable effects and help improve acoustic comfort.

Effective compensation for displacements

The flexible body of Dilatoflex® expansion joints effectively compensates for pipe displacements and contributes significantly to the protection of the installation and its components.

Dilatoflex® Type K and KP for housing and construction

The Dilatoflex® type KP, capable of withstanding pressures up to 25 bar, is particularly suitable for hydraulic installations in high-rise buildings, where high operating pressures are common.

Self-stabilization, a distinctive feature of K-type expansion joints, eliminates the thrust force generated by internal pressure. Consequently, the use of axial limiters becomes unnecessary, resulting in space savings and optimized supply costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

The local water network pressure, generally around 4 bar, is often insufficient to supply the upper floors of high-rise buildings. To ensure adequate water supply, booster pumps are commonly installed. The pressure in the piping system can thus become significantly higher than in conventional building installations.

KP type elastomer expansion joints have been specifically designed for this type of application. Approved at 25 bar, they can be installed downstream of booster pumps where high operating pressures are expected.

Self-stability is a unique characteristic of type K expansion joints. It is achieved through a combination of the length of the expansion joint, the geometry of the blowgun and a studied internal structure.

Under internal pressure, any elastomeric expansion joint tends to elongate and generate thrust forces acting on the piping system. If they are not properly controlled by fixed points or tie rods, these forces can become significant and affect the installation.

The K-type expansion joint behaves differently. Under pressure, it extends only until it reaches its equilibrium length. At this position, the thrust force due to pressure is canceled or reduced to a value very close to zero. The tie rods are therefore no longer necessary.

This feature is particularly appreciated in HVAC and building services installations, where it contributes to space savings and significant cost optimization.

Large concrete anchors and expansion loops are costly solutions, often complicated to design and install. DILATOFLEX® rubber expansion joints offer a simple and economical alternative. They not only compensate for thermal expansion and other pipe movements, but also reduce vibration and noise generated by the installation, thus improving both system reliability and user comfort.
