Designed for demanding marine applications.
Marine environments place high demands on expansion joints. Exposure to vibration, temperature variations, movement and aggressive media requires reliable and durable solutions. Dilatoflex® expansion joints are developed to meet these demanding requirements across a wide range of naval and marine applications, including systems handling heavy fuel oil.
A reliable partner with a minimal footprint

Self-stability – the advantage that eliminates the need for tie rods
Type K free-standing expansion joints are designed to operate at their equilibrium length, eliminating the need for control rods in the system. Their self-stable design requires less installation space and provides controlled, limited pushing forces. This helps reduce the loads transmitted to anchors and fixed points, supporting reliable system performance while simplifying installation and design. The result is a compact and efficient expansion joint solution for applications where space, controlled forces and system reliability are critical.
Custom version for engine rooms
For environments exposed to oil splashes or potential leaks, Dilatoflex® expansion joints are available in GZ configuration. They offer resistance to greases, lubricants and heavy fuel oil, both inside the pipeline and in the event of external exposure.
Effective vibration damping
Dilatoflex® expansion joints effectively reduce vibrations generated by motors and rotating equipment, thereby reducing stress on piping networks and connected equipment. Their internal structure has been designed to guarantee durability in the face of repeated mechanical cycles.
Exceptional resistance in the marine environment
Dilatoflex® expansion joints are designed for full compatibility with marine conditions. They offer a high level of quality and safety, meeting the expectations of classification societies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Previous generation Dilatoflex® expansion joints are fully interchangeable with the current range. In many cases, the same product lines remain available with unchanged design and dimensions, ensuring direct replacement capability.
Only the NT1 and NT2 series, with installation lengths of 150 mm, 200 mm and 300 mm, have been slightly modernized. They are now offered in types T1 and T2 with rotating flanges.
These developments do not affect the fundamental interchangeability of the products. Rather, they provide minor design improvements, including:
- increased permissible travel capacity
- better ability to absorb installation tolerances
- enhanced ability to compensate for pipe misalignment
The new T1 and T2 designs therefore offer greater installation flexibility while maintaining full compatibility with existing systems.
To enable us to offer the suitable expansion joint, the best solution is to provide us with photos of the colored label on the blowgun and the marking on the edge of the flange. Please also indicate the year of purchase and essential operating conditions: fluid, temperature and pressure.
In the maritime sector, Dilatoflex® expansion joints are generally installed in low and medium temperature piping systems, where their main functions are vibration isolation, movement compensation and stress reduction. They are commonly installed in:
- Engine room (engine cooling circuits, auxiliary systems, etc.)
- Sea water circuits (desalination circuits, fire circuits, cooling circuits, etc.)
- Oil and hydrocarbon circuits
- Heating and air conditioning circuits
- Pumps
- Sanitary water circuits, waste water….
