Water, wastewater and industrial water, drinking water

Compensation for misalignments, simplified maintenance and excellent resistance to abrasion and diluted chemicals.

The specific design of Dilatoflex® rubber expansion joints guarantees a perfect seal, even after disassembly and reinstallation. The reinforced flat heel of the K-type and T-type expansion joints provides an additional sealing surface and minimizes the risk of deformation when tightening the bolts. The elastomer compounds used for Dilatoflex® expansion joints offer high resistance to abrasion and diluted chemicals (ARCC/TE grades) and are certified for potable water applications (DW grade).

A reliable solution for buried and overhead pipes

Increased resistance to UV, solar radiation and bad weather.

The mixtures used for the outer layer of Dilatoflex® expansion joints reinforce resistance to environmental attacks and slow down the effects of aging.

Proven robust design

Dilatoflex® expansion joints are based on a design proven for over 60 years, particularly suited to harsh environments. The thickness of the body wall ensures better mechanical resistance and a longer lifespan. In particular the N series available from DN 500 to DN 3000.

Compensation for piping misalignments

Large travel capacity and rotating flanges help compensate for various types of misalignments, even when some of them occur simultaneously.

Easy access to driving

Dilatoflex® expansion joints allow maintenance operations to be carried out inside the piping system, such as solids or sludge extraction and internal inspections. The flat heel design guarantees optimal sealing and prevents any leakage after repositioning.

Health Compliance & Drinking Water Approvals

For drinking water distribution networks, sanitary safety is an absolute requirement. That's why the Dilatoflex® range offers expansion joints equipped with specific elastomers that have received Sanitary Conformity Certificates (ACS), WRAS, and KTW. These official certifications guarantee that the inner rubber lining, in direct contact with the fluid, does not alter the quality, taste, odor, or bacteriological composition of the water intended for human consumption.

By integrating certified Dilatoflex® expansion joints, you ensure that your installations fully comply with current health regulations.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, Dilatoflex® elastomer expansion joints cover all water treatment applications thanks to our wide range of elastomers. For particularly demanding applications, an internal stainless steel baffle can be added to extend the expansion joint's service life.

Elastomeric expansion joints in direct contact with drinking water must be certified for drinking water applications. The required certification depends on local regulations and is defined by the competent authorities. In Europe, many countries have their own approval schemes for drinking water, such as WRAS in the UK, DVGW in Germany, KIWA in the Netherlands and ACS in France. These certifications are often recognized or accepted in other European countries. Drinking water certification helps ensure that materials in contact with water do not alter its quality. Distributed water must meet strict requirements for color, turbidity and chemical composition, including limits for metals and other substances that could affect human health.

Many drinking water certification schemes distinguish between different temperature categories, such as cold water, hot water and very hot water. The applicable category is defined during testing and approval of the material. Therefore, a material certified for potable water applications is not necessarily approved for all water temperatures, and the scope of certification should always be verified.

The most widely used elastomeric blend for drinking water applications is EPDM. It offers excellent resistance to hot water, aging, ozone and bad weather, while having very good mechanical properties. Our quality DW elastomer is certified for drinking water applications.

Dilatoflex® elastomeric expansion joints can be used in underground pipelines exposed to ground settlement and other pipe movements. However, they must not be installed in direct contact with the surrounding soil, as this would restrict their movement. Instead, they must be installed in a chamber or manhole that provides sufficient clearance for their operation. This solution is particularly well-suited for underground installations where access is difficult or impossible for many years. Our users' experience confirms that Dilatoflex® elastomeric expansion joints provide reliable, long-term service in this type of application, without requiring replacement for extended periods.
